Day 40

10 August 2020

Ed painted antenna insulators, red for transmitters, blue for receivers. The upper section of scaffold came down today. It was like watching the bandages being removed after cosmetic surgery and the antenna rotates again! The final coat of epoxy red was applied, props and shafts were incovered for painting, the yardarm when back up, superstructure was primed, and anodes reattached.

Back in Albany they painted top coat on all bollards, painted the interpretative stand by the aft gangway, they painted underside of forward gangway attachment on the sea wall and installed SS Clips and fasteners on forward gangway for the communications cable. They will be ready for our return. This crew also installed rubber isolation hose on the mooring cables at the bollards. They starting installing suspension lines on the safety nets and have pretty much figured out the safety net rigging and done as much as they can do before the ship returns. The repainting of the gate at the gangway entrance turned out beautiful.
