Donate to USS SLATER!

Your support is so important. The USS SLATER is owned and operated by the private not for profit. Destroyer Escort Historical Museum as an IRS 501(c)(3). Founded by veterans as a living naval museum, USS SLATER is listed as a National Historic Landmark. Its operation is funded by contributions from loyal members, volunteers, former ship crews, corporations and private foundations. The Museum does not rely on taxpayer money, but on the generosity and patriotic spirit of those interested in preserving our naval heritage and insuring that the memory of these veterans is not forgotten when they are gone.

Choose where you donate!

Restoration - Many of our friends support us by making direct contributions to the restoration fund to assist in the ongoing restoration of the USS SLATER.  These contributions may be made in any amount at any time and are always gratefully appreciated and used wisely.

Endowment - To insure the long-term preservation of the USS SLATER after all the original DE sailors are gone, the USS SLATER (DE-766)/Frank Lasch Foundation, Inc. has been created. Your donation will be invested. The principal will not be spent and earnings will be distributed, as needed for the ongoing restoration and preservation of USS SLATER.

Education - USS SLATER’s education fund helps the museum travel to area libraries and schools to teach the history of Destroyer Escorts to those who cannot travel to the ship. We set up artifact displays, and give oral presentations. This fund also provides educational programming and supplies for our Overnight Program. A donation to the Education Fund will also help us to keep our podcast, DE Classified up and running!

Winter Fund - USS SLATER cannot open to the public during the winter months in upstate New York. During this time without ticket sales we struggle to keep the heat on. Your donation goes toward ‘Keeping a Volunteer Warm’ as they continue to restore the ship throughout the winter months.
