Second Platform Deck Plan
The second platform level is essentially divided into three sections, forward storage areas, engine and motor rooms, and aft storage areas.
The forward section starts at the bow with the boatswain's storage. Next aft is the chain locker. Next aft is the underwater sound room accessed by a hatch from the 2nd platform. The next spaces accessed by hatches from the 2nd platform are the storage areas, 3"/50 caliber ammo magazine, 20mm ammo magazine and hedgehog fuse storage.
The next area is accessed by a ladder from the first platform forward crew berthing and includes the electrical engineering stores, refrigerated storage and ice machine room with compressors for the reefers. The next area is accessed by a ladder from the first platform mess area and includes the first lieutenant stores, gyro room, and dry provisions. This is followed by diesel oil tanks. There is no access further aft through the engine and motor sections.
The middle section consists of the forward engine room, forward motor room, aft engine room and aft motor room. These are all accessed independently from hatches in the main deck passageway on the starboard side of the galley and muffler rooms. There are emergency exit hatches on the main deck on the port side. There is no access between the engine and motor rooms.
The aft section following the engine and motor rooms start with a series of diesel oil tanks and fresh water tanks. In the ship's center are a 40mm ammo magazine, depth charge pistol ammo storage, and 3"/50 caliber ammo magazine. The next spaces accessed by hatches from the 2nd platform are storage areas on port and starboard with the depth charge magazine in the center. The next spaces accessed by a hatch from the 2nd platform are supply division storage areas on port and starboard with the 40mm ammo magazine in the center. The last area is a void space.
